78 Derngate: The Charles Rennie Mackintosh House

Take a guided tour of 78 Derngate – an ordinary Georgian terraced house in Northampton – made extraordinary by the dramatic remodelling of the interiors by the famous Glaswegian designer and architect, Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
The visionary owner, local businessman W J Bassett-Lowke, commissioned Mackintosh to completely transform his marital home which is now open to visitors and guided tours are offered to those who wish to learn even more about both the owner and the designer. There are galleries, a shop and The Dining Room restaurant on site.
