Bat Walk

20th September, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

£6

A pipistrelle bat can eat over 3000 insects in one night, which makes them very useful to farmers who are worried about insects damaging their crops.

We’ve invited Antony from the Cambridgeshire Bat Group to come and lead a walk around the farm to see which species of bat we have living here. He’ll give us an introductory talk about bats and their ecology, before we head off around on our walk (as the sun sets). He’ll also provide bat detectors to allow us to tune into the ultra-high frequency sounds that the bats use to navigate.

Our Bat Walk will run on Friday 20th September from 6:30pm till 8:30pm. Tickets cost £6 per person.

What’s included?

  • a half hour introductory talk from Antony
  • an hour long walk around the farm and mill pond
  • the chance to use a bat detector to identify any bats we find

This workshop is ideal for anyone with an interest in wildlife. It is suitable for all adults and well behaved, nature-loving children who are able to complete the hour long walk. Under 18s must be accompanied by a paying adult.

Please note that this event is subject to suitable weather conditions (for the bats) and may be cancelled in the case of heavy rainfall or extremely high winds.
