Build Your Story – inclusive storytelling workshop

28th November, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

About the workshop
Saturday 3rd December
12pm – 1:30pm or 2:30pm – 4pm
Gallery 3 (art gallery), Peterborough Museum, PE1 1LF
Suitable for all ages and abilities. Children welcome and must be accompanied by an adult.
Led by Anita Nayyar and Hana Sayeed.
This 90-min workshop is all about our stories – who we are, what we’ve experienced, and for our voices to be noticed by others. It will be a feel-good, energised atmosphere, where as a group we will play games, chat and write/draw/act some of our stories. Get to know new people, and share things about yourself in creative ways.
The workshop will involve moving around the room and standing for those who are able. Chairs will be provided for those who require them.
Saturday December 3rd is International Day of People with Disabilities, and this workshop is a chance to celebrate and come together in a creative environment.
Access Info
Gallery 3 is located at the back of the art gallery on the ground floor of Peterborough Museum. The entrance to the gallery is accessed by 4 steps. There is also step-free access via a lift which is in TEG 2 on the ground floor.
The venue is wheelchair accessible.
The activity will include light physical activity involving moving around the space.
Relaxed atmosphere, but may get a little noisy at times.
Although gallery 3 is closed to the public, there is no door to make the room completely private. There may be the occasional nosey head popping through the archway to see what people are up to!
Please wear comfy clothes that you can move about in.
Photos will be taken at this event of those who are okay with being photographed.
Spaces limited to 15 places per session. Personal assistants and support workers welcome.
The closest car parks are located behind the museum on Trinity Street, or the next street along on Wentworth Street.
If you have any questions about access or have any access requirements, please call/text/whatsapp Charley on 07435 985935 or email charley.genever@neneparktrust.org.uk
About International Day of People with Disabilities
International Day of People with Disability takes place on 3rd December 2022 and is about:
● Celebration – to recognize and value the diversity of our global community, and to cherish the role that we all play, whatever our level of ability.
● Learning – to understand and learn from the experiences of people living with a disability;
● It is a day for optimism – to look towards the future and the creation of a world where a person is not characterised by their disabilities, but by their abilities;
● Action – where all people, organisations, agencies and charities not only show their support for International Day of People with Disabilities, but take on a commitment to create a world characterised by equal human rights.
