Church of the Holy Sepulchre – Heritage ICON Conservations and Outcomes of Unique Conservation
10 September @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
An event every day that begins at 12:00 pm, repeating until 11th September, 2022
The world famous Holy Sepulchre Church 1100 AD has so much to interest our many visitors with oceans of conservation and recent research that now enhances and expands our Visitor Experience…a not to miss Heritage Open Day!
Northampton’s oldest standing building offers so much to see in history and militaria down the centuries. With the Northampton castle having stood for 200 years the church has welcomed many Kings & Queens for many recorded historic events. Parliaments were held here from where crusades set out to “Take the Cross” in Jerusalem. An amazing record of the Northamptonshire military connections down the centuries from musket shot hits in the tower front to records via plaques all around the building.
Today, the completion of restoration over 27 years at a cost of £1.3 million leaves the building in pristine condition and used by The Restoration Trust for countless events apart from the obvious worship. Our tour guides welcome groups from far and wide to take in the extraordinary history that continues to come forth from constant research…our promise is a warm welcome and an opportunity to learn of the history of our Iconic building, also recognised as a National Treasure and a Building of International Significance.
