Nenescape, in collaboration project partners, is running a group dog walking event with the help of qualified dog behaviour specialists, Paul Daly from Canine Coaching

These walks are for dog owners who wish to walk with others and wish to learn more about dog behaviour and tips for countryside walking.

Our hope is that we can encourage positive dog ownership and practices, by increasing the awareness of the important Nene Valley landscape and what we can do to help it thrive for us and wildlife.

The Upper Nene Valley gravel pit Special Protection Area (SPA) features a series of lakes and wetland grasslands, created by former gravel extraction. The gravel pits are formed of extensive shallow and deep open waters, alongside other features such as sparsely vegetated islands, gravel bars, and other “bird-friendly” habitats. This variety provides valuable resting and feeding conditions for wintering water birds.

These events are a good opportunity for dog owners who want to learn more about dog behaviours such as:

• Improving lead walking
• Reducing activity around other dogs and animals
• Reducing reactivity to inanimate objects
• Increasing confidence whilst out walking
• developing a better understanding of your dog
