Event Series Event Series: Leather in Shakespeare

Leather in Shakespeare

14th September, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Free

Leather is everywhere! Not least hidden in the words our our beloved Bard, William Shakespeare. Through a selection of objects from the National Leather Collection, visitors can explore the true meaning behind Shakespeare’s leathery terms.

The National Leather Collection presents an exhibition entitled ‘Leather in Shakespeare’, which pairs objects from the museum’s historic collection with leather-related lines from Shakespeare’s plays to demonstrate their true meaning. Falstaff may have a beard like a glover’s paring knife, but what does that look like? What was a paring knife used for? As we celebrate Shakespeare’s 403rd death-aversary this year, join us for a second look at the Bard’s works, kid’s trails, crafting and more!

No booking required.

Access facilities are provided by the Grosvenor Centre and are not located at 35 Princes Walk itself, but within a short walking distance.

This exhibition has been developed in collaboration with the support of the Sandford Cascade and a local University of the Third Age group.
