Two online talks with Northamptonshire historian Mike Ingram

Join us for Northampton Museum & Art Gallery’s first online events during the Coronavirus pandemic. We can’t wait to welcome you to the new museum when work has finished and we’re ready to open the doors – in the meantime we have two exciting online talks with acclaimed Northamptonshire historian Mike Ingram for you to enjoy from the comfort of your own home.
To be able to access the talks you will need to use Zoom from your smartphone, tablet, laptop or PC. The talk will be a private Zoom meeting and joining details will be sent after a ticket has been purchased. You will be able to join the call using video or audio only if you would prefer not to appear on screen.
Each talk will last approximately one hour with a presentation from Mike Ingram and ending with a Q&A session.

USA – The Northamptonshire Connection

This year is the 400th anniversary of the sailing of the Mayflower to America. It was arguably one of the most influential voyages in the history of the world. The ship quite literally carried with it the seed of the American nation. This talk looks at Northamptonshire’s connections to this famous voyage, the first presidents of the USA and much more.

Becket – The Northampton Connection

2020 marks the 850th anniversary of the murder of Archbishop of Canterbury, Thomas Becket by Henry II’s knights in Canterbury. Becket has many close connections with Northampton. His trial at the castle in October 1164 shook the nation. This talk looks at Becket’s life, his trial and subsequent murder.
