Wood Carving Course
23 October @ 9:30 am - 4:30 pm
An event every day that begins at 9:30 am, repeating until 23rd October, 2022
Wood carving course in the beautiful Stanwick Lakes nature reserve!
Have you ever wanted to learn the traditional craft of Wood Carving? This one day course is suitable for those just starting out and also for carvers who would like to develop their skills further.
The day starts with the introduction of the tools and the techniques and materials used for making a wood carving by hand. This will be followed by a small carving project to become familiar with the basic skills and then, after lunch, you will move on to a new project that involves creating a larger relief carving. The course leader for the day is Peter Schwartz, a carver who has been teaching and working in the local area for over 30 years.
The day is run in a very flexible format and, as mentioned above, is suitable for beginners and also for more experienced carvers who would like to develop their skills under the guidance of Pete.
All the tools you need will be made available and the lime wood blanks are included in the course fee. If you already carve, and would like to work on your own piece, you are welcome to bring it along with you. Any tools you bring should be labelled as your own and, for safety reasons, will need to be approved by Pete for use.
Participants are simply asked to bring their own packed lunch and supply of enthusiasm! (We provide tea and coffee during the courses)
