Enjoy a summer-long series of open water swimming sessions at Sywell Country Park offers the chance to swim in a safe and controlled environment. Public sessions are planned every Saturday from 8am to 10am until 28 September 2019 and are open to all ages and abilities.
Movement to sing and dance. For children under 5 enjoy free Hodeaway entrance before and after the sessions. Please book. Tel: 01933 625522.
Get involved with hands-on activities for all ages including pond-dipping in the moats, counting butterflies in the long grass or graffiti hunting around the garden lodge. Rushden Greenway, between High St and Crown Way. Bring your smartphone or tablet to the Greenway in Rushden and discover some interesting characters from Rushden’s past, including the strong-minded suffragettes and the cracking story of an egg delivery lady. Open water swimming sessions run every Thursday throughout the summer months on Gunwade Lake. 5.30-7pm. The course is a 400m rectangular circuit on Gunwade Lake marked out by four yellow buoys. Swimmers are required to swim in an anticlockwise direction around the course and they can complete the course as many times as they like within the swim session. £12 to register for the season, first session free.
A pipistrelle bat can eat over 3000 insects in one night, which makes them very useful to farmers who are worried about insects damaging their crops. We’ve invited Antony from the Cambridgeshire Bat Group to come and lead a walk around the farm to see which species of bat we have living here.
