SPA Top Trumps

The Nene Valley is a brilliant place to enjoy the great outdoors, but it’s also vital for wildlife and the thousands of protected birds that spend their winters here. Because of this, specific gravel pits in the valley have been designated a Special Protected Area (SPA). The SPA stretches along the River Nene floodplain from Clifford Hill near Northampton downstream to Thorpe Waterville, north of Thrapston.  Learn more about the SPA with the Top Trumps game!

Dip Into The World Of Dabbling Ducks!

Winter is a wonderful time to see wildlife, particularly for fans of our feathered friends. As the cold grip of the Arctic winter takes hold on the lakes, pools and marshes of Northern Europe and Russia, huge numbers of swans, ducks and geese retreat to the relative warmth of the UK.

Check out the dabbling duck ID guide and enjoy a local walk and see what ducks you can find!
