St Matthew’s Church Tour
The building was designed by local architect Matthew Henry Holding in 13th Century Gothic style. The foundation stone was laid on St Matthew’s Day in 1891. The church was dedicated on St Matthew’s Day two years later, 21 September 1893. Artworks include Henry Moore’s Madonna and Graham Sutherland’s Crucifixion.
